River Mobility was founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George who bring complementary strengths across strategy, operations, industrial design, and product development. Aravind has prior experience in operations and strategy at Ultraviolette, while Vipin has led design roles at Ultraviolette and Honda, giving the company a rare blend of execution discipline and product craftsmanship.
Together they identified a gap that the Indian EV market had consistently overlooked: most electric two-wheelers were built for either commuting or lifestyle, but not for the Indian consumer who needs utility, storage, durability, and design in a single vehicle.
In May 2026, Elev8 Venture Partners led $120 million Series C in River alongside Claypond Capital, 360 ONE Asset, Singularity Ventures, and Anicut Capital. Elev8 invested because River represents the most disciplined company-building we have seen in India’s EV two-wheeler space: a founding team that spent two years building before selling, a product that earns its customers through design and utility rather than discounting, and a category critical for India’s energy security and consumer economics.
River has also received international recognition for design excellence. River Indie became the only two-wheeler brand in India to receive the prestigious Red Dot Award in both Concept Design (2024) and Product Design (2025). River is backed by several global investors and strategic partners including Yamaha Motor, Al-Futtaim, Mitsui & Co., Marubeni Corporation, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, JAFCO Asia and Trucks Venture Capital.
